Pat McAfee signs new multi-year deal with WWE

WWE today announced that Pat McAfee has signed a multi-year extension with WWE.

McAfee, who became one of the most beloved members of the company with his commentary, has been working as a Smackdown color commentator since April 2021.

The former NFL star is set to step in the ring once again later this month when he takes on Happy Corbin at SummerSlam. This will be his second match of the year after he wrestled Theory at WrestleMania in Dallas. He also had a “match” with Mr McMahon following that and was on the receiving end of a Stunner from Steve Austin.

McAfee has not commented on the new deal yet but retweeted the WWE story about him signing on the dotted line.

“After 25 years in ‘the booth,’ working with @PatMcAfeeShow is the highlight of each week. His excitement is contagious (even if he almost kicks me when standing on our table) and has helped revitalize my love for our business! @WWE, our fans, and I are lucky to have him,” Cole wrote.

Interestingly enough, a poll on Twitter from WWE asking which match fans are mostly looking forward to at SummerSlam, Corbin vs McAfee leads the pack with 50% of the vote!
