Pete Dunne is the new WWE United Kingdom champion

There is a new WWE United Kingdom champion and his name is Pete Dunne.

Having failed to get the title in the final of the WWE UK Championship tournament, Dunne did not disappoint this time, and the heel known as the “Bruiserweight” lived up to his hype after defeating the champion Tyler Bate with his finishing move The Bitter End in an amazing, 15-minute match of the year candidate.

Dunne, who is 23 years old, is also the current champion of PROGRESS Wrestling. With the belt strap in his mouth, Dunne walked out at the WWE UK Championship special on the Network with the PROGRESS title and then defeated Trent Seven to earn the title shot last night at Takeover: Chicago.

Both Dunne and Bate got multiple standing ovations during the match, a match which received fantastic reviews online as the show was going on. Perhaps the best seal of approval came from WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin who simply said, “Damn what a match!”
