Randy Orton advances to WrestleMania 33 main event

The number one contender spot for the WWE title has finally been settled…or so it seems after Randy Orton defeated AJ Styles last night on Smackdown.

Orton last main evented WrestleMania three years ago when he wrestled Batista and Daniel Bryan in New Orleans. Prior to that, he main evented WrestleMania 25 with Triple H, so this will be his third time in the top billing assuming the WWE title match goes on last as usual.

Last week AJ Styles won the right to face Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania but then Randy Orton turned on Bray Wyatt. Since he won the Royal Rumble, he was then given the opportunity to take on Styles to determine the number one contender for the title.

There were rumors that Luke Harper will also be added in the mix although that plan looks like it’s no longer in place.
