Rollins vs Breakker on NXT pulls in big numbers

Brandon Thurston from Wrestlenomics is reporting that the Tuesday match on NXT between Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker for the World Heavyweight title peaked at 950,000 viewers, a figure which is very, very rarely seen for NXT.

Rollins’ appearance also came with a bigger jump in ratings and NXT ended up #2 on the night in top 50 cable chart among the 18-49 demographic, a ranking which they haven’t been able to achieve before.

WWE is looking to start putting more main roster stars on NXT in the coming months with the aim of spiking up the television numbers for the brand. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler are likely to appear soon on the show to defend their newly unified WWE Women’s Tag Team titles and there are rumors that there’s also a plan for Roman Reigns to appear once on the show.

Reigns is a former NXT star from 2012 and is also a former FCW Tag Team champion with Tyler Breeze, although he was a champion just before FCW was rebranded to NXT.
