Ronda Rousey wins Smackdown Women’s title at Backlash

Ronda Rousey is the new Smackdown Women’s champion after last night at Backlash she beat Charlotte Flair in an I Quit match.

This was Rousey’s second go at the Smackdown Women’s title after she unsuccessfully challenged for it at WrestleMania last month, losing to Flair on night one of the show. She earned the right to wrestle for the title after winning the Royal Rumble in January in St. Louis.

The defeat ends Charlotte’s reign after 198 days. Flair was originally the Raw Women’s champion but swapped titles with Becky Lynch when the two went to opposite brands as champions.

It’s Ronda’s second run with a women’s title, having kept the Raw Women’s title for a total of 232 days, losing it to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 35.
