Sage Beckett and Rhea Ripley join the Mae Young Classic

Two more women were officially added to the Mae Young Classic tournament, bringing the total to 16 out of 32 that will be taking part. The two new additions are Sage Beckett and Rhea Ripley.

Beckett is a 32-year-old from Florida who is already under an NXT deal. She trained under Team 3D and wrestled for TNA under the names of Miss Betsy and Rosey Lottalove. When she was doing independents, she wrestled under the name of Andrea. Beckett has one NXT televised appearance under her belt, losing to Emma in October 2015.

Ripley is still young, a 20-year-old who is from Australia and who was a soccer player before transitioning into professional wrestling. She wrestled in Australia and Japan before joining the tournament. “Just to get the opportunity is awesome, and I’m going to give it everything I’ve got,” she told The Advertiser, a newspaper in her hometown of Adelaide. “Win or lose, either way you’re gonna notice us.”

The Mae Young Classic starts taping next week at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida and will air on the WWE Network in late August.
