After the NXT Takeover: London main event was over and the broadcast was done from the WWE Network, there was one more match that the London crowd got to experience…and the return of Sami Zayn.
Zayn wrestled Tye Dillinger and after the match was over, Zayn spent around 5 minutes talking to the 10,000 fans who packed the SSE Arena in Wembley. “Guys, I hate to cut you off, you seem to be having a lot of fun…but it’s been 7 months now, there’s been something I’ve been meaning to say and I gotta get it off my chest….I’m back,” Zayn said as the fans started chanting “Ole ole ole” and “Welcome back,” giving the former champ a standing ovation.
Zayn said that every time a dream comes true for him lately it turns into a nightmare, mentioning the time he won the NXT title and then facing Cena for the U.S. title in Montreal. “Tonight, that trend is broken,” he said.
Zayn told the crowd that he appreciates all of them and so does everybody in the back. “NXT” chants broke out and Zayn said that they hear them backstage. He thanked the London crowd for their “rabid support” and he classified London fans as some of the best he ever had the pleasure of working in front of.
He promised more big things for him and NXT in 2016. The match was taped for next week’s NXT television show. You can check out the video below.
