Shawn Spears wins the NXT North American title

A new NXT North American champion was crowned last night on NXT with Shawn Spears defeating champ Tony D’Angelo in the main event for his first taste of NXT gold.

This brought to an end D’Angelo’s 147-day reign as champion. He won the title on the October 8 episode of NXT from Oba Femi.

For Spears, it’s his first title win after a long wait in both WWE and AEW. Spears, the man formerly “Perfect 10” Tye Dillinger, rejoined WWE in February 2024 after nearly five years with AEW. He had previously worked for WWE between 2013 and 2019.
