Spoilers: NXT Takeover 36 main event announced

The main event for NXT Takeover 36 was set last night during the tapings that took place for the July 27 and August 3 episodes of NXT which will air on Syfy due to the Olympics coverage on USA Network.

After being unable to wrestle since February 2020, Samoa Joe will finally get back in the ring and do what he does best as he will take on Karrion Kross for the NXT title.

Joe, who is an enforcer for NXT, offered his resignation from his role so he can challenge Kross at Takeover. NXT General Manager William Regal, who was attacked by Joe on Tuesday’s episode, agreed to Joe’s request although he originally wanted to fire Kross.

Concussion problems have prevented Samoa Joe from wrestling after he taped a commercial for the company in the beginning of last year. He was surprisingly released in April but Triple H quickly hired him back where he does more for NXT than just on-screen work.
