The Great American Bash returning for NXT on July 5

The Great American Bash is returning as an NXT special on Tuesday, July 5 as part of the Independence Day celebrations.

The popular WCW pay-per-view was brought back to life in 2004 by WWE as the July pay-per-view but those stopped in 2009. A one-off Smackdown in 2012 was themed as The Great American Bash but then in 2020, WWE brought back the name for NXT.

The 2020 Great American Bash was a two-event affair headlined by NXT Champion Adam Cole vs North American Champion Keith Lee in a Winner Takes All match. Last year it was also Adam Cole vs Kyle O’Reilly in the main event.

This will be the first NXT Great American Bash in front of fans as both the previous one were in empty arenas.
