Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were among the first to congratulate Renee Young on her new position as a permanent member of the Raw broadcast team.
With this role, Young makes history by becoming the first-ever female to sit in that coveted chair spot, joining Michael Cole and Corey Graves. Her appointment takes effect starting with tonight’s broadcast.
“Every evolution needs a voice to tell its story. Incredibly proud of Renee Young. welcome to the #Raw commentary team,” tweeted Triple H after the announcement was made.
Stephanie McMahon, who has been pushing the women evolution along with her husband over the past few years, echoed his statement. “I am so proud of Renee Young for becoming the first ever female commentator on #RAW! #YouDeserveIt! I can’t wait to hear her perspective every Monday Night,” Stephanie said.
Michael Cole, the voice of WWE, also pushed hard to have a female commentator permanently assigned to one of the main shows. “Work hard and you will be rewarded. Simple but true,” Cole wrote. “Tonight will be a top 5 highlight in my 22 year career. Congrats Renee Young.”
Meanwhile, Young also tweeted her excitement over her new position. “I am so so so insanely excited about this! To be the first woman to take over that chair that so many amazingly talented voices and personalities have sat in before me,” she wrote, before thanking Vince McMahon, Stephanie, Triple H, Michael Cole, and Corey Graves.
