One person who has been really quiet about WrestleMania this year is former WWE champion The Rock.
Whereas in previous years it was rumored that he would be appearing or even he announces his participation beforehand, there was no mention of him whatsoever in the lead up to WrestleMania 33.
You would have to go back to WrestleMania 26 for a WrestleMania without an appearance from the People’s Champion. At WrestleMania 27, he was the host of the show, then at 28 and 29, he was in the main event against John Cena, winning the first one, and then losing the title to Cena again at 29.
At WrestleMania 30, he was part of the epic opening that also involved Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin, while at WrestleMania 31 there was the special moment with Ronda Rousey as they faced off Triple H and Stephanie McMahon during an interview segment in the middle of the ring.
Last year at WrestleMania 32, The Rock announced the record-breaking crowd number and was then interrupted by The Wyatt Family. He had a quick – very quick – match against Erik Rowan, and then John Cena came in to help fend off the rest of the Wyatts.
Last month, The Rock acknowledged on Twitter when replying to a fan that he’s trying to get there for WrestleMania, but that was the only public comment he made regarding the show. He is famous though for making surprise appearances, but will he do one tonight?
