Worlds Collide replaces NXT Takeover at Royal Rumble weekend

There will not be a Takeover event during the Royal Rumble weekend as WWE is replacing the show with a Worlds Collide event. Worlds Collide is a tournament where Superstars from NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live square off with the winner getting a title shot in any of those brands.

With the move to USA Network this month, it looks like there will be a different schedule for Takeover events for the year 2020. Takeover shows have been held with the big four pay-per-views for the past couple of years giving WWE a four-day block of events with Takeover, the pay-per-view, Raw, and Smackdown. It’s most likely that Takeover will still be part of WrestleMania and SummerSlam weekends, WWE’s two biggest events of the year.

WWE confirmed that there will not be a Takeover in Houston after the company published the information for the travel packages for the pay-per-view where it listed Worlds Collide running on the eve of the Rumble at the Toyota Center.
