WrestleMania 36 in 2020 now rumored to be held in Tampa, Florida

The Tampa Bay Times and the Tampa Bay Business Journal are both speculating that WrestleMania 36 in 2020 will be coming to town.

The Tampa Bay Sports Commission declined to give comment on the rumors and WWE said that they have nothing to announce for WrestleMania at this time.

The Commission submitted three different bids to host WrestleMania in Tampa in 2023, 2024, or 2025 and there were rumors that Minneapolis was the favorite for next year’s WrestleMania but nothing came out of that yet.

This would be the fourth WrestleMania in the state of Florida after Orlando and Miami hosted the previous three in 2008, 2012, and 2017. If Tampa gets WrestleMania, the show would be held at the Raymond James Stadium, which is also the future home of the XFL Tampa team. The Raymond James Stadium is scheduled to host Super Bowl LV in 2021.

Built in 1998, the “Ray Jay” is the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL and seats just over 65,000 fans and can be expanded to 75,000 for special events. It has already hosted Super Bowls XXXV and XLIII, as well as the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship.
