WWE and Heath Slater issue statements on arrest warrant story

Late yesterday afternoon stories online surfaced citing a report by Fox 5 Atlanta that an arrest warrant was issued for WWE Superstar Heath Slater for an alleged incident that occurred during the WrestleMania XXVII weekend.

The website for Fox 5 Atlanta at myfoxatlanta.com did not carry such a story online and is not carrying a story today either however the rumors were running pretty rampant which resulted in both WWE and Slater himself issuing statements.

WWE, in a statement to PWInsider.com, said that they were made aware that a misdemeanor arrest warrant was issued against Heath Miller but they have not seen a copy of it or provided with the charges. They said that they will take appropriate action once the proper information was received.

In a statement issued on Twitter, Slater said, “The charges & civil suit brought against me are completely frivolous. I am innocent and these charges will be dismissed as soon as any judge hears the evidence. My attorney Don Samuel will handle this matter.”

The whole incident is from the WrestleMania XXVII weekend where hotel security guard Corinne Oliver said that Slater invited her to his room after the staff party and when she refused he put her in a chokehold and dragged her anyway. Oliver managed to escape and reported the incident to her superior the next day and only went to the police in June, two months after the alleged incident occurred.

Slater was with his girlfriend at the time and according to other sources he got engaged during that weekend.
