WWE and Universal titles to be unified at WrestleMania 38

The Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns match at WrestleMania 38 will now be a title unification match, meaning that both the WWE and Universal titles will be merged into one moving forward following the show.

Lesnar will be putting up his WWE title on the line while Reigns puts his Universal title on the line, with one man walking out of the AT&T Center with all the gold.

While previously it was title for title, WWE has now clarified in their WrestleMania marketing that only one title will survive eventually and it looks like whomever is the champion will be appearing on both brands. It’s unclear if the brand split will be stopped as well.

The Universal title was established in July 2016 after the company re-introduced the brand extension.
