WWE announces WM 31 in Santa Clara one day ahead of public event

WWE has announced that WrestleMania 31 will be held in Santa Clara, California, one day ahead of the official announcement. This will be the first time that a WrestleMania will be held in Northern California.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, Santa Clara and the SF 49ers NFL team beat out 14 other cities which put in a bid to host the event in 2015. Philadelphia was Santa Clara’s main competition. John Saboor, WWE’s Executive Vice President of Special Events, said that the incredible facilities offered by Silicon Valley and the brand new stadium won them over.

The official announcement will be done tomorrow by WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon who will be joined by other WWE Superstars and Divas, officials from Santa Clara and San Jose, 49ers CEO Jed York and tight end Vernon Davis.

“The vision for the stadium has always been to bring together all that is special about the Bay Area through the use of innovation and technology,” York said in a statement. “WWE is certainly a model for innovation as they have perfectly blended the worlds of sports and entertainment. We look forward to providing the most technologically-integrated WrestleMania experience ever.”
