WWE announced that the WWE Network will be available in Japan starting on January 5, 2016, with the first month of service offered for free to those who sign up. This is another major market cleared for the Network which was unable to broadcast there due to TV contract issues.
The WWE Network in Japan will be similar to the US version of the Network, costing $9.99 per month with no commitment and the ability to cancel any time. All the 12 WWE pay-per-views will also air as part of the deal and all the available video-on-demand will be accessible from day one.
WWE Network will first be available on desktop, laptop and mobile devices, followed by Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Sony PlayStation 3, Sony PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Roku and Smart TVs in time for Royal Rumble.
“Japan is strategically important for WWE given our passionate and engaged fan base in the market,” said George Barrios, WWE Chief Strategy & Financial Officer. “The global expansion of WWE Network is critical to the continued growth of our brand internationally.”
