WWE titles to be unified at TLC pay-per-view

After some speculation about what will happen to the two titles after the TLC pay-per-view, Triple H confirmed in the weekly interview with Michael Cole on WWE.COM that the titles will be unified and there will only one champion in the WWE going forward.

With the brand extension basically over and all Superstars and Divas appearing on both shows it made more sense to have one champion rather than two. With WWE dropping hundreds of thousands of dollars recently on the new WWE title you can safely guess which title will eventually survive the cut.

The last time WWE had one single champion was in 2002 when Brock Lesnar defeated The Rock to capture the WWE title at SummerSlam. Immediately after that the World Heavyweight title – the belt which was used in WCW – was reintroduced, with modifications, and given to Triple H exclusively for the RAW brand after Lesnar moved to Smackdown.
