WWE Universal title vacant after Balor injury

Finn Balor’s reign as the new Universal champion came to an end already as the injury he suffered at SummerSlam will require surgery and several months out on the sidelines.

Balor suffered the shoulder injury when he was powerbombed by Rollins on the barricade but he soldiered through the match, eventually winning the title. He was favoring the arm during the match and did not lift it when he was celebrating, opting to keep the title belt on that hand and lifting his other arm.

“He hit the wall during the match, dislocated his shoulder and was able to put it back in himself in a split second,” said ringside physician Dr. Chris Robinson. An MRI held yesterday prior to Raw showed that there is a possible labrum tear and recovery time could be from four to six months.

To crown the new WWE Universal champion, a series of matches were held on Raw last night with Seth Rollins, Big Cass, Kevin Owens, and Roman Reigns all advancing for a fatal 4-way match set to take place next week.
